Welcome to Nells Natural Raw Food – where it all began with one very special chocolate Labrador named Nell ( aka Nelly)

When we brought Nelly home, we quickly realised she was a little different from our two smaller pups, Jack and Poppy, our Jack Russell–Yorkshire Terrier crosses. Unlike them, Nelly couldn’t just have food left out all day – she needed a more tailored, balanced diet. We wanted her to have the very best start in life, so we began our journey into the world of raw feeding.

It didn’t take long for us to see the difference it made – not just for Nelly, but for all three of our dogs.
🐾 Poppy, once a grumpy old lady, was suddenly full of life again.
🐾 Jack, who we thought was just naturally slim, filled out beautifully and his coat became soft and silky.
🐾 Nelly grew strong, sturdy, and healthy, with a gleaming coat and bright white teeth.

We were amazed – and completely hooked! That’s when we realised there was a real gap in the market. The world of raw feeding can be overwhelming, full of conflicting advice and confusing information. We wanted to make it simple, welcoming, and stress-free for other pet owners who, like us, just want the best for their furry family members.

So, we took the leap and opened Wakefield’s very first raw food shop – a safe, friendly space where you can ask questions (no matter how silly they might seem!) and get honest, down-to-earth advice.

Since opening, our pack has grown even more. Nelly went on to have a litter of seven healthy puppies, all weaned on a raw diet from day one. One of them, little Nova, decided she wasn’t going anywhere – she moved herself right in, and we just couldn’t part with her! She and her mum are now the best of friends, and they love nothing more than sharing a meal and a cuddle.

Not long after, Slinky, our cheeky miniature Dachshund, joined the family too – and suddenly there were five very different dogs, all thriving on the same natural, balanced diet.

Since those early days, our little shop has grown full to the brim, and our beloved “Nell’s Friends” photo wall keeps getting bigger every day. We’re so proud to have built a community of like-minded pet lovers who believe that good food truly makes a difference.

At Nells, we’re not just about selling raw food – we’re about helping pets live their happiest, healthiest lives and supporting owners every step of the way.
